I have had an allergic reaction to something (not sure what) and have been experiencing bad hives about once a day with itching for the past 6 days. I am taking Zyrtec right now, which is helping and my dermatologist prescribed a steroid cream which helps also. Does NSP have any products that would help me? I'd like to stop taking the Zyrtec, but only if I know something ese will help me. Thanks!

There is some information in the archives for hives. I saw one recommendation there was:

1. Burdock capsules internally - 6 capsules at a time
2. Homeopathic: Allergy
3. Ginger powder in bath water

Do a search for "hives" and see what you turn up in the archives.

Rather than what you can take to sooth the hives and itching -- It's more like what you are taking or eating that is causing this reaction. Are you taking any drugs ? In my experience, it's either a food item that you are allergic to OR a drug causing a reaction. Most of the safety warnings on drugs mention hives and itching as a side effect. I, personally can't take pain pills or high blood pressure meds without developing hives. Sometimes it takes awhile to develope the hives.

Quite frequently people are allergic to or develop allergies to tomatoes, and occasionally to anything with citric acid in it. THIS can be caused by candida. You MAY want to do a bowel cleanse and consider a candida program. See "Candida" in the Archives. This happened to my oldest daughter when she was a teen ager. Staying clear of anything containing citric acid and doing a cleanse took care of the problem and she never had it again.

Four and HistaBlock will often help with the symptoms -- BUT, you want to find out what you are allergic to, expecially if it's a med or if it could be caused by candida. Also look on the Forum Archives under Chemical Allergies -- the second post, I believe. You might find this helpful.
