Nasal Polyps
This can be serious if the polyps become large enough to close off breathing through the nostril. I had this problem and air could not pass through one nostril for 2years. The polyp continued to swell and surgery was necessary.
After surgery the doctor recommended the following:
Every morning pour a special mixture of saltwater into the palm of your hand, then sniff this deep into the nostril and up into the sinuses, then spit the excess out of your mouth.
The saltwater mixture is as follows:
8oz. glass of water mix
1/8th teaspoon of salt and
1/8th teaspoon of baking soda
(I also add 5 drops of Tea Tree oil and believe that this helps with sinus infections).
The salt water leaves the nostrils dry and open for a little while, allowing a free flow of air through the nostrils, this may help the polyps shrink and will almost certainly help with preventing sinus infections.
