Tums
Recently I convinced my friend to use food enzymes for indigestion/reflux rather than Tums. When I told her to quit using the Tums, she said oh no - that's where I get my calcium. I told her she wasn't getting any calcium from them anyway, so stop using them. Now I need some concrete facts to back up my claim. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much. -Carole Rishel

Tums neutralize hydrochloric acid which is needed for proper digestion and assimilation of calcium as well as other nutrients. Without proper amounts of HCL, food, especially protein, will go into the colon undigested. It can putrefy there and cause other health problems. It can also become a breeding ground for parasites.
If you go to the official NSP web site, you can copy and paste information from all the different types of calcium NSP carries to e-mail to your friend. Just reading the product descriptions is very enlightening since the benefits of the additional ingredients are explained. (Note: liquid calcium is on quarterly special while supplies last.)
Also, you can use copies from the NSP Leadership Development Program manual, old Distributor School manuals, or the Body System Charts in the Opportunity Kit to explain the importance of hydrochloric acid in the digestion and assimilation of nutrients. Even this months Horizons could be used to educate your friend about the importance of digesting your food. Look at page 9 to show her how hydrochloric acid, enzymes and other supplements are beneficial to the health of the whole body. Sincerely. -Sybil Vazquez

Also an NSP product that works very well for this is Noni Juice or Stomach Comfort. Noni is a natural enzyme and anti-inflammatory. Stomach Comfort is the alterative to Tums or any over the counter antacid. -Janice McComb |
