Body Type - Pancreas Glandular

Anatomy and Physiology: The pancreas weighs in at about three ounces. It is six inches long and lies just under the bottom of the left rib cage. The pancreas is mainly associated with insulin production (the islets of Langerhan). Insulin has the following functions: increases glucose metabolism; unused glucose is stored in the cells as glycogen; works along with the growth hormones; can lead to acidosis. When blood glucose levels drop below 70 mg per 100 of blood, glycogen is secreted and, if left uncontrolled, it could deplete the liver of glycogen in a matter of hours. Most diabetics actually have a liver problem, not pancreas; if they are yellow (jaundice) in that way, that is probably the cause. The adrenals also play a large role in sugar regulation. The pancreas is the home of sweetness stimulated by color and variety.

Causes of Weakness:
The original intention of nature was never that we eat foods with the high concentration of sugar that today's foods have. The high sugar content we eat causes the pancreas to overreact and produce too much insulin. The resultant low blood sugar causes us to crave more sweets and the process repeats itself. Hypertrophy of beta cells leads to hypoglycemia, but when those beta cells burn out, diabetes can result.

Eating between meals does not allow the pancreas to rest.
