Baby - Aspirin

What is the reason drs keep prescribing baby aspirin to grownups? I just don't get it. What is it supposed to do? And what do we have in the NSP line that does what baby aspirin would do? -Carol Matz

Mild blood thinning action to prevent clots (strokes). A capsule of white willow bark a day would do the same thing. -Sharon Grimes

Oh Sharon, This is too funny! My husband participated in a marathon run at Disney World a few years ago to support research to "end strokes," and taking a baby aspirin is all they've come up with all their research money? Oh puh - leeze! -Carol Matz

because it sells product -

it is supposed to thin the blood

remember that foods that are beneficial for us on the blood type diet also thin our blood vs the avoids which thicken our blood

This is from an old post by Sharon Grimes below: Blood-thinning herbs/supplements Herbs with anticoagulant action: (*most important to avoid) Astragalus Boswellia Dan Shen
*Ginsengs Devil's Claw Dong Quai Feverfew
*Garlic
*Ginger
*Ginkgo
*Gotu Kola Red Clover Tumeric
*White and purple willow

Supplements:
* High doses of CoQ 10, Vitamin E, or high doses of any of the oils
* (Omega 3, Evening Primrose, Super GLA, Flax seed, etc.)
* Protease enzyme formulas
* Cellular Build (contains Astragalus)
* Triple Relief
* APS II

Herbs With Coumarin Derivatives
(These may have some blood-thinning action but it is hard to say how much. Mostly they are only a concern when on warfarin or anticoagulant drugs) Angelica Arnica Anise Celery Chamomile Corn Silk Fenugreek Horse Chestnut Licorice Lovage Parsley

The reason for Rxing the baby aspirin is that some women produce antibodies that lead to blood clots forming in the placenta. While this is not harmful to mom, it sure is to baby. If the placenta becomes too compromised due to low blood flow a miscarriage will happen. As natural alternatives try garlic and vitamin E. -Judith Cobb
