ALJ

ALJ (Allergy Lung Formula)
(capsules, vegitabs & liquid)
Herbs used in ALJ are listed with a description below.

Boneset Eupatorium perfoliatum L.
Synonyms: Feverwort, Thoroughwort

Part Used: Herb
Medicinal Uses: Febrifuge (reduces fever), expectorant (expels phlegm), diaphoretic (induces sweating), tonic (exerts a restorative or nourishing action on the body) and laxative (promotes evacuation of the bowels). Used particularly for catarrh (inflammation of mucous membranes), bronchitis and skin diseases.

Fennel Foeniculum vulgare

Constituents: Fennel seeds contain about 8% volatile oil (about 80% anethole, plus fenchone and methylchavicol), flavonoids, coumarins (including bergapten) and serols. The volatile oil relieves wind and is antispasmodic.

Medicinal Uses: The primary use of fennel seeds is to relieve bloating, but they also settle stomach pain, stimulate the appetite and are diuretic and anti-inflammatory.

Caution: Fennel seeds are potentially toxic; do not exceed the recommended dose. Do not take the essential oil internally.

Fenugreek Seeds Trigonella foenum-graecum L.

Medicinal Uses:
Demulcent (soothes, protects & nurtures internal membranes), nutritive, laxative, digestive, antipyretic (dispels heat, fire and fever) and expectorant. Saponin-rich extracts of Fenugreek are antidiabetic in animal models and reduce blood levels of cholesterol. The fibrous fraction also causes a reduction in blood lipids.

Horseradish Root Armoracia rusticana

Medicinal Uses:
Stimulant (increases internal heat, dispels internal chill and strengthens metabolism and circulation), diaphoretic, diuretic (promotes activity of kidney and bladder and increases urination)
Mullein Verbascum thapsus L.

Synonyms: Aarons Rod, Great Mullein (=V.thapsus.), Orange Mullein (= V.phlomoides).
Medicinal Uses: Expectorant, demulcent, diuretic, emollient (soothes, softens & protects the skin), vulnerary (assists in healing of wounds by protecting against infection and stimulating cell growth). Mullein is used particularly for bronchitis and catarrh and externally for inflammation and to aid wound healing.
