Seizures - Frontal Lobe
My 26 year old son was diagnosed 4 years ago by several specialists as having frontal lobe seizures. The "seizures" occur during his sleep when it actually appears that he is having night terrors or nightmares. He has been on numerous medications, but nothing has completely stopped them. Now, he has been diagnosed with sleep apnea as well. He is not getting enough of the proper rem sleep that he should be. The specialists are again planning to change his medication for the seizures and are trying to remedy the apnea. Does anyone have any recommendations or suggestions that might help? Thank you. -Shirley

I just recently read where aspartame (Nutra-Sweet) is frequently the cause of seizures so make sure that he is not using any diet sodas or anything containing these. (It is contained in about 6,000 products now, including chewing gum and children's vitamins so you have to read ingredients carefully.) I've heard that Snore-Ease is good for sleep apnea. Hopefully others will have some other suggestions. I know that he should sleep on his side rather than on his back and he needs to get in better physical condition (vigorous aerobic exercise in other words and lose weight if he is overweight.) -Duane |
