SAD - Seasonal Affective Disorder
Can anyone please let me know how we can treat this disorder. I have a clinical psychologist that has stepped in. She has many clients that do not want prescription drugs. Please let me know. -Candice Frantz

St John's Wort works great for many people. Some people do better with Chinese Mood Elevator. These should be taken regularly, not hit and miss. It may take about two weeks for them to kick in fully so it is not an instant cure. Also it helps these people a lot to increase their exposure to full spectrum light/ Replace the cool white light bulbs with the day light type. Extend their day, that is their daylight hours by turning on bright lights first thing in the morning and extend their use into the evening. They should not sit around in a dark room. They need lots of light throughout the day. Sun light is best but if that is not available the day light bulbs are the next best thing. You can also buy special full spectrum lights including the incandescent type if you want to avoid the strobe effect of the flourescent bulbs. -Duane

We have had great results using Yellow Dock. I would say that it has helped everyone that has used it for seasonal affective disorder. I have used it for males and for females - - regardless of blood type. At least twenty of my clients have been helped by using it..... some of them only need to take four to six per day. Years and years ago I heard a chiropractor give a lecture on the glandular system. He felt that the cells of the Yellow Dock plant were similar to the cells of the pineal gland and that the Yellow Dock would feed the pineal by like cellular structure. He felt that SAD was from the pineal gland needing food - - so I tried using Yellow Dock with my next client suffering from SAD. It worked! And has on each subsequent individual. -Ruby Lawler,

Not only have I suffered from SAD in the past...but many clients have also. The best results have been to see it as Low Blood Sugar...and add St. John's Wort and Feverfew. Licorice sometimes...and cut the caffeine and sugar. -Ruby Lawler |
