Psoriasis

My son took Black Walnut internally and then on his scalp, we used baby oil to loosen the scales and then lightly brushed them. Then he washed his hair. We put Tea Tree Oil, a few drops of Black Walnut and Herbal Skin Treatment on the scalp and it worked. I highly recommend the Herbal Skin Treatment. It is awesome. Good Luck! -Jennifer

Psoriasis is tough because there is often one or more factors to the cause, in some cases it requires that you cover all these areas:
1. Essential Fatty Acids (Fish Oil EPA or Primrose)
2. Cleanse the Colon and Blood (BP-X, Fiber, Tiao He Cleanse)
3. Fight Yeast which is usually present to some extent on the skin (Yeast Fungal Detox)
4. Antioxidants to heal the skin (Defense Maintenance, Zinc 100mg., Vit A 30,000IU)
5. B-Complex, especially if under stress
6. Protease Plus especially if digestive problems are present -Valerie

Most of the treatments for psoriasis are topical and don't work very well. They comprise ointments containing either or both tar and steroids. These are both messy and, in the case of steroids, dangerous.
Fortunately for people like me, who have had psoriasis for longer than I like to admit is my age, NSP has a product that works and continues to work. The name is hard to remember since it is called Eczema/Psoriasis. It is a liquid and is administered by a dropper under the tongue. When I started to use it I took it every two hours for the first week and then started to gradually increase the time span. Now after about 2 years, I take it about every other day, unless an outbreak occurs. Then I step it up for a couple of days to every two hours. This schedule will probably differ for others, depending on how extensive the psoriasis is. - Russ

Often Psoriasis is a fat utilization problem. We have had some good results using Hi-Lipase, Skin Detox, Proactazyme, and Liver Detox. use as high a dose as you can tolerate, and make sure there is no animal fat or hydrogenated fats in your diet. -Tom Mather

My Dad had been going to different doctors for 2 years with no relief; in fact, his condition was getting worse. He is not a "pill taker" but was desperate. My Mom and I put him on MSM, 2 a day, Evening Primrose Oil, 1 a day; and B Complex, 1 a day. His condition greatly improved within two weeks and within a few months was completely cleared up. -Kathy

The Sunshine Concentrate mixed with feverfew is good for psoriasis. I have also found that it is very parasitical related. Start with a mild parasite cleanse. -Kim

My husband has this too. I don't know what will cure it (although I'm interested in finding out), but just last week I got him some Tea Tree Oil extract. He mixes it in his hand with his shampoo and lets it sit on his head for a minute or two. He has gotten a lot of relief and he's only used it 2 or 3 times so far. -Christine

Here is an essential oil recipe for Psoriasis that has worked wonders for some of my friends/clients: In a one ounce carrier (your choice) 10 drops each of R. Chamomile, 10 Oregano, 10 Lavender. Apply probably at least three times a day. You realize these recipes are not the cure, but the help. It comes from within and proper diet is essential. -Nancy Yoakum

Get rid of white bread, and avoid gluten if possible. Read labels watch anything that says food additives, emulsifiers, food coloring and favoring.

The herbs I like are Gotu Kola, Yellow Dock, and Sarsaparilla. Theses are specifically good for psoriasis. Also, came across some research on Oregon Grape root being good for skin problems. -Dee

He needs to do at least 2 oz. of Thai-Go at a time, 2-3 times a day; I would add Super GLA, and buy Steven Horne's new book on cleansing. His body is trying to cleanse through his skin. Is there parasite activity? Sounds suspicious. I would have him do three rounds of the Para Cleanse, which includes the Yeast/Fungal Detox. -- Sharon Grimes

I have a friend who has had terrible psoriasis since 1978, he was in the Navy stationed in Misaua, Japan (previously was stationed in the Philippines at the time they were retrieving and storing Agent Orange on the base) and woke up covered with it to the extent that he had to be hospitalized, also had high white count and high fever. Since then the VA has treated him with everything from coal tar (which he is allergic to) to anti-depressants and NUMEROUS steroids (creams and pills).
He also has been diagnosed with neuropathy/drop foot in 1996 for which he was given a brace and told that it may go away which it did after nine months.

Early 2005 he was then diagnosed with peripheral vascular disease and told that surgery was needed, but since the VA doesn't move very fast he was still suffering and finally was convinced that he may try an herbal approach since he had seen a difference in my health by using them for my different health concerns.

So we first started with Garlic for circulation, then added Thai Go, he has great improvement in his leg, feels better, looks better and started a walking program. Previous to this he could not walk down his street without stopping from pain and numbness in leg. He now can walk around our reservoir (1 mile perimeter).

He was taking the Garlic and Thai Go approximately 2 months and then added Omega 3 and then Vari-Gone topically for the psoriasis (omega 3 and Vari-Gone for approximately 2 weeks), the problem now is INTENSE itching from the lesions on his back and right leg (not the same leg with vascular problem).

I suggested Chamomile tea in bath and am taking him what I have left of my Nature's Fresh for topical application. I also feel he should add Nature's Three for absorbing and moving toxins out of intestines. – Kathleen

My father has psoriasis all over his body, and has had it for 22 years or so. He began doing some serious bowel cleansing (through colonics and herbs) and the psoriasis has begun to clear up. Also, he is using the psoriasis/eczema homeopathic and an essential oil blend (2 parts lavender, 1 part Roman chamomile) toppically. Another acquaintance had psoriasis on the scalp and all he used was Thai-Go as a supplement. Hope this gives you some ideas, and good luck! – Andrew

This is a very difficult problem.
I personally have not treated it but I know of someone who is treating it in their patient (chiropractor acquaintance). I was just discussing it with him today.

He mentioned that some folks begin to get some relief with milk thistle (not a cure) but others get worse (don't know why). If you can test her, see if her body likes milk thistle.

The other is the amino acid l-arginine. This is what he is currently trying on his patient. There have been many studies that show that this may give some relief to the syndrome. Can you check the MT point? It is the right thumb, the base of the nail on the right side (side closest to the pointer finger).

Also, there have been those that believe that the root cause is either some type of foreign microbe. So see how the she tests for VS-C, Colloidal Silver, Black Walnut...etc. products that are used to kill off foreign entities. Protease may be good to test. – Lourdes Martinez

The Drs thought my husband had this so we research it out and Oregon grape is the one that came up the most-and its comes in Liquid too-
I have a itchy rash now and am using tea tree oil and Herbal trim -very soothing-and Calamine Lotion-and for the itch-suggestions were Pau d'Arco Lotion and the Pau d'Arco capsules and the acidophils -for kids Bifidophilus for Kids chewable-it may be a fungus-??? I would cut down on sweets and carbs in case it would be- but mine is from an antibiotic-they give you the steroid cream regardless-the foot prints book says quite a few things one is aloe vera juice- Bentonite-I think the herbal trim works well and the caladryl lotion and keep up the tea tree oil- Good luck. -Darla

Jennifer, My experience with any major skin disorder is indeed parasites. They try to get out through the skin if the bowels are backed up so I usually try a cleanse to start, Clean Start is good then look to what is contributing to a degeneration of the body so that the parasites find a 'happy home' there. Building the body so that it is no longer a good place for them to live is the long-term answer. Ultimate Green zone, HSN-W, Mineral Chi Tonic, an all the other things so far suggested. -Karen A Jensen
- - - - - - - - - - - - - -
How about a redundant answer? My psoriasis always gets worse when I pig out and my candida gets worse. I like the Homeopathic Eczema/Psoriasis, in addition to cutting out sweets, dairy and yeast. But I have also heard that it is an indication that one is not digesting protein well, so PDA may help. -Kathy Wood

I've seen good results with psoriasis using Tiao He Cleanse, BP-X and Psoriasis Homeopathic. -Duane
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
I have only worked with one person with psoriasis. He had major worms and parasites. He did Tiao He Cleanse then the Para Cleanse on and off for several weeks. He did a lot of Liquid Chlorophyll, Flaxseed Oil and Black Currant, BP-X and Grapine. He had to change his diet completely..This was hard but he did get off red meat and dairy products. While he was on this program, about 5 months the psoriasis kept getting less and less. Unfortunately, it was too difficult for him to stay away from the fast food restaurants. I haven't heard from him in a while..... -Joan Kasich

I have muscle tested several people with psoriasis and "staff" was a constant in each of them. One of the people went to a specialist in Denver and was told that "staff" is usually the underlying cause of this condition. Many people with psoriasis are put on antibiotics and during the time that they are on them, the condition improves.
Diet, stress management, and other supplements are also very helpful. Nature's Sunshine supplements are the highest quality and people respond to them quickly.
A more complete answer should have been, cleanse the body (including the liver and bowels), recommend Oregon Grape Liquid, Pau d'Arco Liquid and Burdock. -Glenda Hadley
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
We have had success using just ground flax seed mixed with juice or water morning and night and Flax Seed Oil. He may need to clean up his liver and diet too. -Lynette Schultz
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Bowel cleansing and candida diet and supplement program is essential. It will eliminate the psoriasis, but takes lots of commitment and time. -Ellen

Q: Has anyone been able to successfully improve psoriasis or similar skin problems. Tried Pau D'Arco Lotion which helps to alleviate but its still springing up in new places. Any feedback would be tremendously appreciated. Thanks. -Chris.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - -
If it is still springing up, have you tried anything internally, mainly for parasites? My son took Black Walnut internally and then on his scalp, we used baby oil to loosen the scales and then lightly brushed them. Then he washed his hair. We put Tea Tree Oil, a few drops of Black Walnut and Herbal Skin treatment on the scalp and it worked.

I highly recommend the Herbal Skin Treatment. It is awesome. Good Luck! -Jennifer

We used Herbal Skin treatment with a few drops of Tea Tree Oil and Black Walnut to the top of my son's head ( he is 5). At shower time, I would put baby oil on the spot and scrub with a soft brush to take off the dead skin.

He also took Black Walnut internally.
Hope that this helps. The skin treatment really took out the itch. -Jen

Tea Tree Oil and Black Walnut is put on the top of your son's head or directly placed on the skin area that needs treatment? Also, how do you get a 6 year old to take tablets, like Black Walnut or Super GLA Formula? -Donna

I've had psoriasis for 20 years. Used everything from topical ointments to medically prescribed drugs which affected my liver function. I can't offer solid recommendations to you right now, but some of the advice given you on this site is appropriate. I began a natural health approach 4 months ago because traditional medicine was of little help. I was more than frustrated. My decision to use a natural health approach included colonic cleansing sessions (herbal cleansing wasn't enough for my condition), and NSP products (food enzymes, colloidal minerals, Bifidophilus, flax seed oil, multiple vitamins, etc.), and Aromatherapy blends. Sun exposure is helpful, but burns usually create new outbreaks. Vitamin B12 is helpful (I prefer liquid -- easier to take and more readily absorbed). Stress reduction is important, but I believe dietary change may be even more important. That's my next step. I stopped drinking milk 1/04 and greatly reduced use of any dairy products. Now I drink soy milk (I like SILK brand name) and supplement my diet with NSP liquid calcium. My wife is a RN and NSP supporter. If you want to talk more, let me know. Be patient, continue to learn, be hopeful, and keep trying! -LLC

My son had this problem. He had a patch of hair the size of two quarters gone. I used Herbal Skin treatment as the base, black walnut, and tea tree oil. I put on his head 2-3 times a day. I also treated him internally with the black walnut. Psoriasis is thought to have a parasite involvement here. The Herbal Skin treatment is WONDERFUL for the itching. There is none better. -Jen

Psoriasis sufferers find relief with Oregon Grape. Eight million north Americans suffering from psoriasis eczema and other dry skin conditions have a new kind of relief in the form of a topical skin treatment. Oregon Grape is a powerful herb whose root and bark yields alkaloids that relieve the effects of psoriasis, eczema, dermatitis, dandruff and other skin conditions. It is gentle yet very effective without any of the side effects of steroids or harsh chemicals. Researchers have learned that these alkaloids are strong anti microbial and anti fungal agents that inhibit abnormal skin growth in its most chronic form. Psoriasis can be painful and sometimes fatal. The average person's skin cells renew themselves once every few days, whereas the skin of a psoriasis sufferer renews itself once every three or four days. This condition has been treated with ultraviolet light, lotions and creams. Derived from tars and steroids, long term use of these treatments has been known to produce serious side effects ranging form advanced osteoporosis, high blood pressure, liver and kidney abnormalities, hair loss, severe gingivitis and fetal malformation. In clinical tests in both Europe and North America no side effects from Oregon Grape have been observed. In clinical testing in Germany men and women with psoriasis underwent treatments with Oregon Grape for twelve weeks of those tested found their symptoms to disappear or to be substantially alleviated

NSP has it a liquid form of Oregon Grape. Additional information from Louise Tenney's Health Handbook specific uses liver blood stomach intestines and skin excellent blood purifier beneficial to clear chronic diseases such as acne, eczema, psoriasis, herpes and syphilis. Helps all diseases due to impure blood vitamin, mineral content. Contains Vitamin C, D and E, also manganese, silicon, sodium and zinc. Steven Horne sings the praises of this herb in one of his publications. -Nancy

Q: I have a college son who has been developing psoriasis for the last couple years. I'm sure his diet has been bad since he was away at college, Now he's home again for awhile and eating much better, He started on BP-X, Super Supplemental, Flax Seed capsules and Mineral Maintenance. It's a start anyway. He just mentioned that his skin itches a lot. Any connection with any of these? If the healing backwards idea comes into play here could the itching be related to the fact that he had several bouts with poison ivy this summer? He also has a history of boils from back in high school when he was heavily into athletics. Best I can figure is something needs cleaned out of his system but I'm not sure what or how most immediate concern is the itching, Should I discontinue anything he's taking or try something new? Will appreciate any input. -Karen Tweardy

I am not sure this is related but I have found that when there is a skin problem I always muscle test the thyroid. I even worked with a young man that mom tried everything, He was always getting bad rashes on his butt and stomach down where the zippers are. He had cleansed and built to know avail. Came to see me and tied it in with the thyroid, Started taking Thyroid Activator and was better in a matter of a couple of days. We know there is also some emotion tied to it and working with that too with flower essences. -Virginia

Try to find an iridologist in your area to do iris analysis he may need a bowel cleanse and liver support. -Laura

I have psoriasis and have been controlling it with the use of NSP Homeopathic Eczema/ Psoriasis and applications of NSP Irish Moss Body and Hand Cream. When used according to directions the Eczema/Psoriasis controls the itching, the body cream softens the dry flaking skin and helps. The next shower in washing it away. If your son really has psoriasis he probably will have it for the rest of his life. The treatment that I described above is the least expensive treatment that I have found. Before I discovered this treatment I spent a virtual fortune on very expensive medications that only took care of the problem for a very short time. I have had psoriasis for as long as I can remember. Try this treatment first. If it works you will save a lot of money and a lot of heartache. -Russell Whisler
