Pregnant - Epidural
My daughter is about to give birth and has decided to be induced. She is also scheduling an epidural. I'd like to what products (oils preferred so I can rub them on her feet) would be good to reduce the experience of that awful headache that comes after an epidural. Or have they overcome that headache part in the last 30 years? Thanks. -Nolee

My OB/GYN nurse friend tells me that such headaches are things of the past - they are experienced after spinal vs. epidural anesthesia (used for c-sections) and even then are very, very rare these days. I would think about Guardian to protect against hospital germs, and Lavender to keep her relaxed for labor; even though she will have an epidural, it is still possible for her not to have a relaxed cervix and pelvic area. That really is the whole key in childbirth - total relaxation. Afterwards, I would recommend she use something to get the medication out of her body. May be touchy what she can take if she is going to nurse the baby.
I do pray that everything goes well and you are able to thoroughly enjoy the birth of your new grandchild. -Sharon |
