Menopause
I was asked this question...Do I need to take hormonal supplements of any kind after menopause? Some women are concerned that they will need to stay on hormonal supplements the rest of their lives. They understand that during menopause (hot flashes, mood swings, etc.) replacements/supplements are needed to get through the "change"...but what to do after the "change" has passed. Any suggestions is greatly appreciated! -CU

It is my understanding that synthetic hormone replacement only "delays" the change. If they took the hormones till they were 75, then went off of them, they would then experience hot flashes and other symptoms of "the change". -Deana

Seems to me what's important is a balanced, healthy lifestyle. yoga and other relaxation techniques are quite successful. so is acupuncture. change of diet helps, too - ease up on saturated fats, refined foods (they contain lots of sugar, salt and other preservatives), dairy foods. focus on leans meats (if any at all) and lots of veggies and grains. get outside. get moving. get breathing. it works. -Redhawk

The Hart Manual and the "Conscious Eating" say American Ginseng is quite effective for hot flashes, however it can cause bloating or water retention of the GI system. Dandelion root is one the finest herb diuretic's, and would work well in combo with Wild American Ginseng. -Dee |
