LBS-II
Is it safe to take LBS-II on a daily basis? I'm taking 3 capsules at night along with magnesium, psyllium and food enzymes and it works great...I'm just concerned because of the Cascara Sagrada. I've read not to take stimulant laxatives for more than 2 weeks as the body can become dependent on them. Thanks in advance.

You don't become dependent, per se. Let's face it, you're far worse off not having regular BM's. I don't see how it can be construed as dependent when you don't have the good BM's to start with. But, no, you probably shouldn't take a cascara or senna product forever.
I suggest that people do Dr. Jack's Bowel 'Retraining' program for 6 months, while correcting their diet. NSP Clean Start is a quickie takeoff on that -- but I still prefer Dr Jack's original program. You will see other bowel cleaning programs listed also - do a search for Cleanse.
In the meantime, if you eat more fresh fruits and veggies (not just fruit juice), exceptionally more dark greens, not head lettuce. Less cheese and meat. Increase your magnesium complex to bowel tolerance while gradually increasing your psyllium to either a tablespoon of bulk (the combination) or 5 capsules drinking plenty of water with your psyllium. Start this program gradually, because if your bowel isn't conditioned to use it's muscular action, you will tend to block up.
If you do this, over a period of time, you will find you rarely need LBS-II.

I believe this is irritation of the liver. I had this happen when I was traveling once and took 6 of them at once.
I would suggest you clean and build your liver. . . In the meantime, eat more veggies, especially green, leafy ones. You might want to make sure to eat some watermelon or an apple daily. Take psyllium -- starting with a small amount and build up. Drink lots of water and increase your magnesium to bowel tolerance. -Georgiana |
