Kefir
I am asked about this Kefir---which appears to be something like yogurt---they seem to call it a probiotic---below is a good informational site on it-- http://users.chariot.net.au/~dna/kefirpage.html Does anyone know anything about this and is it good----reminds me abit of the Kombucha tea which everyone made for awhile---but that seemed to encourage candida growth and so wonder about this Kefir?? Thanks. -gh

Kefir is a fermented milk product -- like a liquid yogurt. It is NOT just from one company -- all major organic dairies make kefir. IF it's fresh, real fresh, it does have some acidophilus in it. Depends on how quickly it's used and how it's treated. Some is sweetened, some isn't. IF it isn't, it's pretty sour.
Personally, I don't see it as replacing a good probiotic. You just aren't going to get the amount of probiotic as you get in Nature's Sunshine Products Probiotics. I think it's wise to rotate your use of probiotics.
I don't know the company you referred to -- and personally, don't care to bother. But, I've bought kefir -- as a beverage, not as a supplement. -Georgiana |
