Iron
Somewhere I heard that it is better for people over age 50 not to take a supplement with iron unless they are anemic or have low iron in the blood. I cannot find where I read this information or I cannot remember where I heard this.
Does anyone know if this is true? Why? Thanks. -Phyllis

The way I understand it, is that unless you are menstruating, you don't need a supplement with iron. Many people tend to have too much iron. Personally, we have always taken the Super Supplemental with iron with no ill effects. -Georgiana

Another thought - people on prescription blood thinners over extended periods of time (like the rest of their lives due to valve replacement, etc.)should have their blood monitored more frequently for iron deficiency. This happened to my mom-in-law - her blood was leaking out of the capillaries and she was severely deficient due to the meds and nobody even knew it! -Nancy |
