Infertility - Conception Help

NF-X I hear is the baby making herb! Natural Fertility is the name of it. -Tracey

Client had no progesterone levels at all. Can carry, not conceive.) We had her do a bowel cleanse, started her on raspberry, which was later switched to FC w/ Dong Quai and general multi. Her progesterone levels came up to normal, and she began menstruating normally. I might add that up until this point she had only had 2 periods in her life (she was 24). She has had 3 other hormone-induced ones. She was eating a diet VERY high in SIMPLE carbohydrates. The NEJM came out with a study that showed 95% of the infertile women they worked with had a high simple carbohydrate diet. They found that when they did a major cutback on the simple carbs... it was like 85% of the 95% group got pregnant within TWO months!!!!!! No supplements or hormones either. -Janel

We have had many "herb babies" in our NSP 20 year history. It is such a joy to "help" a couple conceive. We do suggest that both the man & wife get on the program at the same time. And remember, Folic Acid is a must BEFORE getting pregnant to prevent birth defects. Bayberry is on one-a-year special now. This is a fabulous herb to open blocked tubes anywhere in the body and to stop menstrual "overflow". Here is our program as published in Recipes for Success:

INFERTILITY:

FEMALES:
*Female Comfort + Vitamin E with Selenium + Bayberry to open blocked tubes
*SynerProTein or Thermo-Meal 2x daily. (A study done at Stillman College, Tuscaloosa, AL found that high protein diets consumed by women, greatly increased the probability of pregnancy.)

MALES:
*Vitamin E w/Selenium, Siberian Ginseng, & X-A. - See Sperm Count card. Treat the nerves - See NERVE card. Clean the colon - See BOWEL HERBS & FIBER PRODUCTS.
NOTE:
*Adequate Vitamin C is necessary for proper hormone production (Biology of Reproduction, 1995;52)
* SPERM COUNT: TO INCREASE: Vitamin E w/ Selenium + X-A + Siberian Ginseng,

HOMEOPATHIC
*Masculine Tonic Remedy, ZINC - 120 mg. two times daily doubled sperm count after 40-50 days. CO Q-10 - 60 mg. Daily.
*Drinking chlorinated water causes sperm to be so weak that they cannot penetrate the egg. (Nature's Spring unit)
*NOTE: Adequate Vitamin C is necessary for proper hormone production (Biology of Reproduction, 1995;52)
Always put every lady of childbearing age on Folic Acid because it prevents spinal cord deformity, a serious birth defect. Problem is, the Folic Acid is needed in the 2nd or 3rd week of pregnancy when most don't yet know they are pregnant. I put all my women who can get pregnant on 2 Super Supplemental every day and teach them the importance of staying with it. Only one of my couples has had a baby born with the defect; and, you guessed it, they weren't taking their Super Supplemental because they didn't want to spend the money. Now they have a severely deformed baby. -Kay Lubecke

Conception and the Role of Supplements

Between ten and twenty couples are infertile; that is, after one year of having unprotected sex, they still have not conceived. There are several factors involved for women, ranging from weight loss to nutrition. Studies found that abnormal weight is the cause of infertility in about 12 percent of women. Caffeine and alcohol are two of the other common roadblocks. Three hundred milligrams of caffeine per day (3 cups of coffee) reduces the chance of conceiving by 25 percent. Not only do women need to follow a healthy, nutritious diet, but often times they may need supplementation if they''re having trouble conceiving. For instance, a study conducted with 14 women, all of whom had been infertile for at least eighteen months, were given Vitamin B6 in the form of pyridoxine, (commonly found in fruits, vegetables and cereals). Within six months, 11 of the 14 women conceived. Another conceived in the seventh month, and the last conceived in the eleventh month of the study. Folic Acid deficiency may be yet another factor for some women. In one report, three women who had been infertile for several years were found to have abnormally large red blood cells, caused by foliate deficiency. After they began folic acid supplementation, evidence of the deficiency disappeared, and all three women became pregnant between three and fifteen months later.

Infertility may also occur as part of the syndrome caused by vitamin B12 deficiency. When the syndrome is advanced, it causes anemia. Once supplementation of B12 was started, results were excellent. Seven out of eight women with anemia, who had been infertile for years, became pregnant within one year after starting on B12. Zinc deficiency can interfere with fertility by disrupting the normal menstrual cycle. It may impair the formation and secretion of two important female reproductive hormones. In randomized scientific studies, zinc supplementation has been shown to correct infertility. The simplest approach for a woman wanting to become pregnant would be to improve her diet and to start a multivitamin/multi-mineral supplement.

My first suggestion would be for them to wait a year and do thorough body, parasite, and candida cleanses in the meantime. Then start with making a baby. -Georgiana Duncan
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
I agree with Georgiana that cleansing first would be a great idea. I had a distributor that knew a couple that had been trying to have a baby for nine years. They both took the herbs listed on the infertility card in the Nature's Treasure Chest and in four months she was pregnant. The key is to work on their glandular systems. The herbs listed in the Nature's Treasure Chest are:
Females: Damiana, Female Comfort, NF-X and Vitamin E
Males: X-A, Vitamin E, Zinc and Korean Ginseng
-LaVerne
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Agree with Georgi. There is a great herbalist and female specialist in England that uses this illustration. You wouldn't plant roses in inferior, clotted soil, so why would you plant a baby in inferior surroundings? First clean out and fertilize the soil, then plant your precious baby. -Terrie

Many of the women that have come to us looking for help getting pregnant are acid. They've been eating too much grain, meat &/or sugar (normal western diet). Alfalfa and a diet that is 75% fruits and vegetables might be all she needs. It would also help if she would abstain from intercourse for about a month. Sperm is foreign to the uterus and the body will call together its natural defenses. (Somewhat like eating too much wheat can cause a wheat allergy) Make sure that she has the adrenal support she needs, Wild Yam/ Chaste Tree Combo. -Marty Kliesh

I've found that women often have small cysts on the ovaries that cause the walls of the ovaries to become too thick making it difficult for the egg to be released. Muscle test for the Pau d'Arco Power Pack at the site of the ovaries and you will know if this is the case. The power pack dissolves the cysts and allows release of the egg. Do this along with the female corrective herbs such as Red Raspberry, Dong Quai, etc. -Gail Pfaff

Suggest that you determine when you are ovulating. There are several good books on infertility that will teach you how to track your body temperature and vaginal secretions. Sometimes people try too hard, and the male sperm gets diminished. If you knew when you ovulate then you could use the sperm more wisely.

*Sometimes the female can have a low-grade infection. Suggest that you douche with a Garlic douche and then insert Bifidophilus. *GLD-F is a seasonal product being offered now. Suggest you get a couple of bottles. Herbs to increase female fertility: Wild Yam, *Damiana, Dong Quai, Sarsaparilla, Yellow Dock, Burdock, Black Cohosh, Licorice, Ginger, Skullcap, FCS-II. Muscle test.
*Be sure your thyroid is balanced. Minerals are key--Algae, Alfalfa, or Barley.
*To help ease obstructions that might be prevention conception: Evening Primrose, Red Raspberry, Rose Hips, Sarsaparilla, Uva Ursi, Dong Quai, Blessed Thistle, Ginger, Lobelia. Muscle test.
*To help the male virility: Bee Pollen, Spirulina, Barley, Siberian Ginseng**, Suma, Gotu Kola, or Alfalfa. I suggest that you take a B-Complex and/or Folic Acid since you are trying to conceive. It helps prevent birth defects. -Elaine Nerland

When infertility is caused by Endometriosis, you may want to check them for Para-Cleanse, Artemisia, Tiao He cleanse or Pau d'Arco Power Pack. I have heard that Endometriosis can be caused by microscopic parasites in the uterine area and that the body has tried to protect itself by entrapping them in its own tissue. I have had excellent results with rotating some of these products on a 10 day rotation program and clearing up the uterine area. This may also indicate that some serious bowel cleansing might be in order...as sometimes the bowel can "leak" toxic matter into the uterine area if it is loaded with old matter and cause obstructions.
Another thing you can have her do is to douche every couple of day with purified water + Chlorophyll + Pau d'Arco liquid. If she can do this on a slant board to hold the fluid for 10 to 15 minutes, she may be quite surprised after a few days of the "tissue" that passes from the uterus clearing the way for a healthy pregnancy. -Christine

Vitamin C has been successful in inducing ovulation in some women, some studies say as or more effective than Clomid. Here's a quote from "Overcoming Infertility Naturally" by Karen Bradstreet.

"A Japanese gynecologist, Masao Igarashi, experimented with vitamin C both by itself and combined with clomiphene . . . In two out of five women who failed to ovulate, vitamin C alone prompted ovulation.

"Vitamin C with clomiphene corrected ovulation problems in five out of five cases, and worked better than clomiphene alone in many other infertility cases.
"Dr. Igarashi reported one case in which a sterile women who did not respond to drug treatment responded to 400 mg daily of vitamin C. The vitamin treatment induced ovulation, she conceived and delivered a normal baby." (page 53) The book has a lot of information on treating infertility naturally. -Karen

I have a distributor who had tried for 9 years to get pregnant. Her and her husband followed the suggestions on the treasure chest cards (Vitamin E, Damiana, NF-X and X-A and Vitamin E for him). They have a beautiful baby girl now. It only took a few months for her to get pregnant. She has been sharing this a lot, so I stock a lot of NF-X now. -LaVerne

One of my favorite challenges! Make sure you are drinking absolutely NO coffee...it reduces fertility for both men and women. False Unicorn is still one of my favorite herbs for fertility. It enhances ovulation and strengthens implantation of the embryo. Of course, Vitamin E and some Vitamin C could be very helpful too. -Judith Cobb

Wasn't there an herbal program written for infertility somewhere before the Journal publications started? It had to do with start cleaning the "nest area" first and then the other herbs to help promote fertility? -Earline Neeley

Lydia Pinkham's formula which was used at the turn of the century to help ladies get pregnant contained Red Raspberry. It is still what I use with my clients to help them normalize their hormonal system, along with the Colloidal Minerals for both since there are so few minerals left in anything anymore. Vitamin E is also vital for both partners at a suggested dose of 2,000 IU for a three-month period to strengthen the Pituitary which then functions at a more proficient level, thereby affecting the entire endocrine system! This permits the glands to manufacture hormones and regenerate the body. I have had a very good success rate with these two alone.

I had 3 miscarriages and 2 stillbirths and then my doctor told me to take folic acid and I never had another problem. After that, we couldn't figure out what caused them (LOL). Also, to increase sperm count, add 1000 IU Vitamin E, 6 X-A a day, 6 Siberian Ginseng, Masculine Tonic, 120 mg. Of Zinc twice a day and 60 mg. Of COQ10 will double the sperm count in 40-50 days. BE SURE to eliminate chlorinated water because it weakens the sperm so much that it cannot penetrate the egg. -Nolee

The recent question about a couple looking to get pregnant prompted me to write this. I've mentioned it before, but I don't think I've gone in depth...Since the onset of puberty I've had problems with my menstrual cycles. When I was 14 my OB-GYN told me I'd inherited the same problem as my mother, my aunts, and other relatives on my maternal side. He termed it "polycystic fibrosis", basically that I have numerous small cysts covering my ovaries, and making the walls so thick that the eggs could not pass through, rendering me infertile. My mother and two of her sisters had to undergo surgery, a "wedge resection", and another of her sisters (and several other women in our family) have tried absolutely everything modern medicine has available without success. My own case was particularly severe. At 16 I was put on birth control because my periods had stopped completely. Two years later, it wasn't strong enough. I had to take pills twice a year to bring on my cycles, and they caused many side effects. When I was 18, the OB-GYN told me I would probably never be able to get pregnant, but that we could try surgery when I was ready. Two years ago, my mother had gotten involved with NSP, and suggested that I try some things to "bring back my period". I started taking FCS-II, Master Gland, and BP-X. Four months later, I was shocked to discover that I was pregnant! None of us had even imagined that the herbs would work that well! I'm now the mother of a beautiful 15-month old daughter. She's incredibly healthy, thanks to all the herbs I've taken, and the attention I pay to her diet. I'd also like to mention that I had a lot of bleeding the first two months of my pregnancy. I was rushed into the doctor's office over and over, and given emergency ultrasounds. The doctors warned me that a miscarriage was very possible, and that I should be cautiously optimistic about the pregnancy. My progesterone levels were dangerously low, and they suggested giving me shots daily. I started taking Wild Yam and Chaste Tree, and the doctor was astounded by how quickly my levels rose. Also, my uterus was in horrible shape because I'd never gone through regular cycles. I took Red Raspberry Blend throughout the pregnancy, and the childbirth was uneventful (if that's possible!) and only took 10 hours - pretty good for a first-timer! I only pushed for 15 minutes, too. I hope this helps everyone else in this condition. I have no doubts in my mind that the herbs were responsible for the wonderful gift I was given. -Morgan

One more light to shine on what they call fecundity (the likelihood that a sexually active woman using no birth control will conceive). Caffeine consumption of 300 mg. or more per day has a negative effect on fecundity. In fact, women consuming this common level of caffeine (the equivalent of two mugs of coffee or one mug and a few cola beverages) were more than twice as likely to suffer delayed conception of more than a year compared to women who consumed no caffeine. As well there are numerous problems once conception takes place when caffeine is present. Please read "Caffeine Blues", by Stephen Cherniske, M.S., for more information. -Peggy Day

I would test her on DHEA-F but not use it for more than 3 months. Have had good success starting periods with women in there 20 with this who have stopped their periods. Might try the Pro-G-Yam Cream also. This may also help into her pregnancy. -Tonja Wells

I personally believed for many years that I too was unable to conceive. I was told to purchase a small inexpensive book, this book is called ""Better Foods for Better Babies & their families. It includes a total program for both male & female to nutritionally prepare their bodies for conception. The man--for building good, healthy sperm, The woman, for building & preparing the overall body. This book includes recipes for making your own natural vitamins, as well as the before, during & after pregnancy care for pop, mom & baby. This was in 1989 or so! (I believe you can order it from Nutri-books) I got mine at a local health food store. It made all the difference! Over the years I''ve given a few copies away to others who have had great results! -Yna Johnson

Have them read, ""Taking charge of your fertility"" by Toni Welscher, MPH. It is an excellent book that will help them realize exactly when she is ovulating as opposed to the guesswork of subtracting days that just does not work. There is only a short window of opportunity to get pregnant. If you subtract days or use a thermometer only, you are likely to attempt AFTER ovulation instead of during. -Michelle Clampit

I have had much success with the following and of course any other suggestions could only increase her chances. I start them off with a cleanse, such as Natures Cleanse or Tiao He Cleanse, then the Wild Yam (only 3 a day of the Wild Yam, if you take too many at a time it acts as birth control) and 2 Damiana. This is very successful with even those people who have tried for more than a year. Also make sure they start vitamins either the Super Supplement or the Prenatal Vitamins, this will give her a head start with making sure the baby gets the nutrition it needs. -Kristine Martinez

Having a baby with the help of herbs is my personal success story and my reason for starting an NSP business 9 years ago. I started with a good cleanse, I took comfrey-pepsin (now it's Marshmallow-Pepsin) and Special Formula #1. I did this for 3 weeks. Then I took Damiana and X-A, three times a day. Kelp for the thyroid. Super Supplemental and Calcium/Magnesium for general nutrition. Since I had a history of a few miscarriages, as soon as I found out I was pregnant, I switched to False Unicorn and Wild Yam for 3 1/2 months, and weaned off of these. These provide natural progesterone which is needed to hold a pregnancy. Once the placenta is a good size and well implanted, (about 3rd month) the placenta will produce the hormones needed for the remainder of the pregnancy. All I can say is it worked for me! Muscle test. Some women do better with Female Comfort or FCS II. -Allison Cantilina
