Gastric Bypass Surgery
I am trying to help a 40+ year old female who has had a gastric bypass 10 months ago. With the vitamins and supplements plus her meds, she has to take (12 three times per day) it is too much for her stomach to handle at each time. I would like to know if anyone has experience in helping someone who has had this surgery and if so what sort of a program they are on? She is currently taking Food Enzymes, Super Supplement, B-Complex and several other supplements unrelated to the gastric bypass, Gingko, X-Action and a gall bladder medication and an arthritis medication. I would appreciate any input on her behalf. Thank you. -Doreen

I had this surgery on march 28th of 2003. the only medication I am taking is B12 a Herbasaurs Chewable Multiple Vitamins and a chewable calcium. I did not have any problems at all. They took out my gallbladder because it was diseased. -Lori

I have not worked with this and don't know much about it, but I do have a customer who purchases the Herbasaurs Chewable Multiple Vitamins because of a gastric bypass. She takes two chewable a day to get an adult dosage of V & Ms. -Mandy

I have helped several friends and family members with their recoveries from the surgery and then adjusting medications to their new tummies. What has been most beneficial is taking liquid medications if possible, then taking one tablet every 20 minutes with something like applesauce, yogurt or cottage cheese. We also worked at reducing the total amount of pills to be taken each day whenever possible. For the most part, they take 1 chewable children vitamin, psyche meds, Lecithin (an oil in a gelatin cap) and B12 liquid under the tongue. Hope this helps. -Bobbie |
