Fibromyalgia - How I Overcame

How I Overcame Fibromyalgia
By Tonja Wells

In 1989 1 went on a shopping excursion with my girlfriend. As we were walking up a hill to the car I began having shooting pains in both my knees. At the time I gave very little thought to it, but over the next several days the pain began to worsen. After several weeks of ignoring the symptoms I finally made an appointment to see our family doctor. He was puzzled as to the origin of the pain, but gave me some painkillers and anti-inflammatory drugs anyway. They did nothing for the pain.

A couple weeks later I found myself back in the doctors' office, but this time with severe pain shooting down the muscles of my arms. Again unsure of the origin my doctor sent me home with yet another prescription. Only a few weeks had passed and the pain was worsening so I went to see him for the third time. This time I was suffering from chest pain and was beginning to wake up continually through the night. Finally he concluded there must be a link to all these problems and decided to send me to see a neurologist.

The neurologist ran a multitud6 of painful tests, which included sticking needles into my muscles. He eliminated lupus, MS., and Lyme's disease. He said that I did not have any of these diseases and sent me home with a $900.00 bill. I was excited to know I didn't have any of the diseases but I couldn't believe I had to go through so much physical pain while enduring all he tests only to find out my reward was this large bill.

This whole experience reminded me of a story I'm sure many people can relate to. It is a tory about a man who had a wonderful dog. The man and his dog were, at a park one sunny day. They were playing an active game of frisbee. The man could throw the dog his frisbee and the dog would retrieve it. After several times of catching the frisbee the dog laid down on the grass and would not move so the owner picked up his dog and drove im to the Veterinarian. After being examined the vet told the owner that his dog was dead. The owner just couldn't believe this information and asked the veterinarian to look his dog over gain. The vet assured the owner that his dog was dead but he had a cat and this cat hated dogs. The vet old the owner if the cat went wild they would know the dog was alive but if the cat did nothing hey would know the dog was dead. The owner agreed to this. The cat walked in the room, smelled the dog, laid down in the corner and went to sleep. With this the vet assured the owner the dog must e dead because if the dog were alive the cat would have gone wild. The owner then asked how much his bill would be. The veterinarian said, "$450.00." "$450.00," the an exclaimed, "Why so much?" The vet explained it, was $50.00 for the office visit and $400.00 or the cat scan." This is the same feeling I had after getting my bill.

The neurologist thought putting me on steroids would help the pain. The steroids upset my stomach so greatly that I began throwing up everyday to the point that I had to have an upper I. The drugs gave me a pre-ulcerous condition. Therefore, along with the pain I still suffered rom I was also continually throwing up with an ulcer.

Still without a diagnosis, my MD sent me to several more specialists. One doctor specialized in arthritic diseases. His diagnosis was "To go home get some rest and to tell my husband to do more around the house, and I would feel better." Needless to say that did not set ell with anyone in our household, but I still have his number if anyone needs their husband to help around the house more. By this time I was very frustrated and had to convince myself I wasn't making up the pain.

With the symptoms worsening and no answers or relief in sight my family doctor sent me to a DO (Dr. of Osteopath). Unfortunately she had no answers but put me on a drug to help me sleep, since by this time I would wake up several times each night. She told me I was the healthiest sick person she had ever seen.

Finally in desperation I went back to my family doctor who had just read an article on Fibromyalgia. I had never heard of it but was excited to finally get information on any possible diagnosis. As I began researching Fibromyalgia I realized this matched the symptoms I had. I went to a support group and began educating myself on the disease. I found a DO who specialized in Fibromyalgia and I began getting strain counter strain therapy. While this was very beneficial it was not the complete answer. I was determined not to live the rest of my life with pain.
In my desperate search to find an answer two years into the disease, I went to "Healing School." I came out with the knowledge that it was God's will for me to be well. Within a week of gaining the understanding that God wanted me well and believing this with all my heart I found information on two single herbs; Pau d' Arco, to help with the pain, and Passion Flower, to help me sleep. Within a couple of weeks of taking these herbs I began feeling better.

I told a friend of mine what I had been doing. She told me that she was also taking herbs and encouraged me to go see her herbalist. My friend told me her herbalist had designed a program for her and how successful it was. At this point having met my 100 percent insurance deductible three years in a row and having only health to gain I decided to go.

The herbalist put me on a complete program of Nature's Sunshine Herbs for Fibromyalgia which included B Complex and Chinese Stress Relief for stress, TS-II and HY-A to improve my energy and THIM-J, along with Pau d' Arco for my immune system and HVP for sleep. A few months later I began taking LIV-J for my liver. One year later I was completely pain free. Through this year I did a series of Parasite cleanses, Ivy's Cleanse and Tiao He Cleanse plus Acidophilus. I have also found Collatrim, Amino Acids and SynerProtein drink mixes to be very beneficial. It has been four years now and I have been free of Fibromyalgia.
As friends began seeing the transformation in me they began asking me what I was doing. I would tell them about the herbs I was taking and find out what would help them. My friends had the same positive results. As I look back over the past five years I am amazed at the amount of people I have been able to help. I am now an area manager with Nature's Sunshine and love helping people regain their health.

I know what the enemy tried to use to harm me. God has multiplied hundreds of times through giving health to all those around me. I have found customers who have called my house but had the wrong number and standing in line at the grocery store or simply striking up a conversation with someone in an elevator. I have found the key is to listen to those who are searching, and then share my success story. People are searching for the answer to good health and I have found the answer they are looking for.
