Chinese Mood Elevator and Nursing
The bottle has a warning about pregnant and lactating women consulting a physician before use. Can anyone tell me which herbs are not good for breast feeding and why? Thank you! - Tricia

If you do a site search at the NSP website (www.naturessunshine.com), and enter the word "pregnant" as the keyword, you will find a complete listing of herbs which should be used with precaution, or not at all, during pregnancy. Some herbs may be harmful to the growing baby in utero, or the breast feeding infant, while other herbs are beneficial to help sustain a pregnancy, or ease another condition via "herbal milk" when a baby is breast fed (for example, fenugreek/thyme to strengthen the lungs of a preemie).
Two other good sources of herbs to avoid during pregnancy and breast feeding are Steven Horne's COMPREHENSIVE GUIDE TO NSP SUPPLEMENTS (available through wee.treelite.com) and the NSP A-Z Guide, available through NSP under "sales tools". Well worth its $2.50 price tag!! :-)
