Child - Hyperactivity
What oil mix could I make for my daughter to put on my grandson before he goes to school to slow down his restlessness. We've tried Focus Attention capsules and he's very good about taking them, but they don't seem to help. She thought a blend of oils might be better. I have found sweet marjoram to be targeted for hyperactivity but can't find any more. He's a straight A-B student, great reviews in school with the exception of his concentration when in a social setting and restlessness (leaving his chair to visit and discuss his work with other students). His teacher is VERY supportive of whatever we want to do. -Nolee Feiock

The FOCUS oil blend might do him good, rubbed on his feet before school. Several have said that Focus Attention should always be taken with Flax Seed Oil for optimum benefit. I do love the Omega 3 EPA for my grandson, but have not experienced it with the Focus Attention. Also, be sure that he takes enough of whatever. -Georgiana

Hyperactivity and a lack of focus could be caused from so many things from low blood sugar to stress, to poor sleep. the oils will work on the underlying cause even if you don't know for sure what it is. So if you have a large selection of oils available I would let him smell each one and see which ones he is attracted to, then see which are his favorites, and make a blens with those. They are bound to benefit him in some way. -V. Greguire

Try giving him Zinc! Recently I learned that copper overload in the brain contributes to restlessness and hyperactivity and that zinc binds to that excess copper and takes it away. I've tried the zinc on 3 little boys, and it is working beautifully.
The first child (6 yo)I used it with is (I mean, was) extremely hyper, to the point that when he came over with his mother for a checkup, we couldn't say one sentence to each other without him interrupting.
The second child (5 yo)has vaccination-induced autism, and the third (3 yo)used to have blood curdling screaming temper tantrums.
Everybody is now calmed down and I have two happy mommies. It's worth a try. -Carol Matz

If you move fast you can still get the Focus EO blend from NSP. I have the parents put it on the soles of the feet before school, and after school if they wish. In Larissa Jones book, Aromatherapy for Mind, Body and Spirit there is a recipe called Hyperactivity Blend on page 136 in the Nervous System section.
It calls for: 8 drops Lavender 4 drops Chamomile 3 drops Sandalwood 1 drop Ylang Ylang. -Mandy |
