Cat - Pancreatitis

My cat became suddenly sick with pancreatitis (not sure of spelling). They found this out from some type of blood test. She also had vomiting and constant mucous and slightly bloody loose stools at the same time. She almost died in one night. At the emergency animal hospital they gave her several drugs but mostly flagil for infection of the pancreas. She became ill in what seemed one day and after many months she finally got better. She is having symptoms of pancreas problems again now, but at a slower rate. Can cats take P-14? She is 16 years old. She is on a medicine called regalin now and they may start the flagil again. Any other suggestions? I want to make sure anything I give her is safe. The vet can not comment on P-14. -Ashu

Do you know that flagyl is for parasites not pancreatitis? -Angelica Pattison

No reason why not. If you muscle test, try muscle testing through someone. My 10-year-old dog had pancreatitis and elevated liver enzymes. She tested strong for PBS so that's what we used. She has been healthy for 2 years now. Just like a puppy -Nedra Denison

My vet has my old dog, who has pancreatitis & severe colitis on Flagyl. She stated to me that it was an anti-biotic. Whatever it is, it is the only thing keeping my little Midnight alive and reasonably healthy in her senior years. -Kay Lubecke
