Cat - Eucalyptus Oil

I have a question about the Eucalyptus Oil. Does the smell repel cats from going or doing things that you don't want them to do? We have a problem with cats living under our house, have tried everything to keep them out. -Dawn

I used to have cats and when you have an animal you hear all kind of stories. People have told me that cats hate citrus anything. Maybe you can put a bunch of oranges, cut in half, in places you don't want them. If you try it, let me know. -Gale

I have cats. The only problem that I have with them is that they love to use my living room couches for scratching posts. I have repaired them so many times that I have lost count. When I am home I would dearly dread someone filming me with a video camera because the results would have me in the loony bin in a heart beat. I spend all of my time yelling "NO" or chasing them with a squirt bottle filled with water. When I am not home they do as they please which results in another mending job. I have used double sided tape, tin foil, coffee beans or pennies in tin cans balanced on the arms of the furniture, store purchased "Repel," inflated balloons, you name it. They have nerves of steel and once they trip the obstacle, the couches are in need of band aids again. As soon as I read the article that Georgiana sent today I headed for the bottle of NSP Eucalyptus oil. I put one drop on the arms of each of the two couches and one drop on each of the eight corners. I sat down in the dining room to watch. My bravest one walked up to the corner of the couch to hook the fist paw full of claws into her favorite corner of the couch. As she started to touch it she paused and began sneezing. She immediately left the area of the couch with an expression of offended on her face. Over the course of an hour three others approached the couches to do their dirty deeds. Once they got a whiff they too left the area, some faster than others. When I came home from work tonight the first thing that I noticed was that the front part of the house smelled wonderful. The second thing that I noticed was that all of the little felines were waiting for me in the dining room instead of in their favorite positions on the couches. -Carolyn Conley
